CUBE’s Latest Achievements and Upcoming Initiatives
Dear Friends and Supporters,
We are thrilled to bring you the latest edition of CUBE’s monthly newsletter. Thanks to your generous support, we are making significant strides in advancing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) education equity and climate action in The Gambia. This month, we are excited to share recent successes and upcoming initiatives that reflect the impact of our collective efforts in The Gambia.
Progress Report: A Year of Impact
Since 2019, your invaluable contributions have enabled CUBE to provide hands-on STEAM training to students from underserved communities. This training has introduced them to science, coding, robotics, 3D printing, and circular economy principles—often for the first time. With your continued support, we have continued to expand our reach through additional pop-up labs and training sessions. In support of our commitment to environmental stewardship, last month, we participated in both a tree planting exercise at Calypso Beach and a mangrove restoration project at the Tanbi Wetlands in Bakau.
Exciting Recent Achievements

Spotlight on Impact: Isatou Conteh
We are proud to highlight Isatou Conteh in this edition. Isatou, who participated in our inaugural pop-up lab in 2019, has now graduated from high school and is volunteering with CUBE before starting university. After that first pop-up lab, Isatou became our first unofficial CUBE mentee and the inspiration behind our mentorship program. Her journey to obtaining her highschool diploma is a testament to the transformative power of our programs and the dedication of our CUBE community.
AI Training for Youth
In July of this year we collaborated with Women Techmakers and The Hub, to train 18 children aged 5-14, on AI. This initiative was designed to introduce young minds to the fascinating world of artificial intelligence and inspire the next generation of tech innovators.

Lab Equipment Progress
We are steadily equipping our lab thanks to the generous support of you, our supporters. Some equipment has been obtained through donations, while others have been purchased with donated funds. We still have a way to go, but your continued support is making a significant difference!
Exciting Updates
Mobile Lab Update
Our mobile lab is nearly complete, with only the installation of solar panels remaining. We anticipate it will be fully operational by August and will conduct a test run during our 2024 CUBE summer boot camp in September.
